According to one theory Black Jack Street is named after the smoke-grimed statue of John the Baptist which used to presided over the thoroughfare from its niche in the church tower. Sadly, Black Jack was in such a bad state of repair that he had to be toppled in 1963 and has since disappeared.....
In 2016 someone came up with the cool idea of creating a replacement and "Project Blackjack" was launched In February this year the commission was awarded to sculptor Rodney Munday:
