There are two massive late Bronze Age round barrows [or "Tar barrows"] just minutes from our house. This is the best preserved - in the field opposite the Burford Road Garage.
Aerial photographs and a geophysical survey have revealed the vestiges of a significant Romano-British ritual site in the surrounding fields. I read that this would have been the obvious site for the town of Corinium but the Romans preferred to leave the existing occupation in place.

The pitch is always immaculately tended but I've never seen a soul here.....Think I'll definitely head on home......
