The Beeches Road Bridge used to cross the Churn to the Golden Farm pub, but access got cut off when the ring road was built. There remains an abandoned (and slightly sinister) inn sign.
In 2016 the little enclave was the subject of a makeover and now boasts an smart wildlife information board.
The raised bank is the remains of the old Roman town wall.
